Sophie Hartman

Sophia Hartman is an early career researcher focused on the impacts of sexual violence and the prevention of sexual violence. She holds a master’s in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation from the University of Oxford, where her thesis investigated the prevalence and perceptions of online sexual violence in Chile. She received her B.S. in Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond, with minors in Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies, Dance, and Latin American, Latino, & Iberian Studies. She currently works at Ajyal Foundation, a non-profit that develops and collaborates on the delivery of high-quality, research-led education and mental welfare for children impacted by war, violence, and displacement, with a particular focus on Palestinians and refugees. Her research interests include violence prevention, sexual violence, care work, trauma-informed education, and root causes of and prevention measures for trauma. She is primarily interested in mixed-method, qualitative, and participatory research methods.
